The Proposal
I proposed to Angela on July 10th, 2011 in Central Park. I'd always wanted to propose in a way that reflects our relationship and was meaningful to us as a couple. Central Park is one of Angela's favorite places in the city, but I wanted a spot that was special to us.
On one of our first dates four years ago Angela and I were walking through the park and ended up climbing a tree together on a whim. That day siting in the branches above everything has always stayed with me as a defining moment for us, so I decided to bring her back there...
Unfortunately, the path with our tree was blocked off by security guards when I got to the park because it's close to the Summer Stage. So I chose a nice nearby location where I could spread out a picnic blanket with some of Angela's favorite things: prosecco and a spicy sopressata pizza from Motorino.
I put together a whole backstory for why I was in the park and why Angela should meet me there, but I wasn't as clever as I hope- she suspected I was up to something when I didn't pick meet her at the subway stop like I usually do.
She said yes anyway! And we celebrated by eating a celebratory engagement pizza in the middle of Central Park (and then calling all of our friends and family to share the news).
